SWEET 1830'S LONG WHITE CHILD'S GOWN W RUCHED SLEEVES AND EMBROIDERY. DATING TO THE 1830'S. ACQUIRED FROM A MUSEUM DE-ACCESSION. FASHIONED OF A FINE WHITE COTTON AND FULLY HAND SEWN THROUGHOUT.

THE SLEEVES ARE SHORT WITH RUCHED GATHERING AND FINE RING PATTERN LACE INSERTION WITH THE BOTTOM CUFF IN A FULL RUFFLE THAT IS FINISHED IN LACE ON THE BOTTOM EDGE. LACE ENCIRCLES THE NECKLINE WITH DOUBLE TAPE TIES IN THE REAR. THE BODICE HAS A V FALLING IN THE FRONT THAT IS TRIMMED IN HAND EMBROIDERY THAT IS ACTUALLY APPLIED ATOP THE COTTON WITH FINE DRAWN WORK SEAMS AND LACE ALONG THE EDGE. THE BOTTOM HEM IS IN A FINE DRAWN WORK STITCH DETAIL. THERE ARE FOUR PINHEAD HOLES WHEN HELD TO THE LIGHT AND THERE ARE THREE AREAS OF BREAKAGE TO THE LACE ON THE EDGES OF THE CUFFS.
