We are pleased to offer an antique (possibly Victorian era) 39 H pressback with vertical slots, combination oak & chestnut, Hi-chair that will convert into a stroller. The chair is 18" W (at its widest point) X 24" L (providing great stability).

In hi chair mode, the wheels are not in contact with the floor. When you lower the unit, the metal wheels will engage the floor enabling movement. Our 4 children all used a similar styled antique hi chair without any problems. There is no safety or harness straps but certainly can be added if one elects to do so.

This unit does have a rod that secures the tray in place to prevent accidental lifting of the food tray during eating or sitting. Overall the chair is in excellent, condition.

The steel wheels are securely attached and do not wobble whatsoever. There are two aspects of its condition that should be noted. First, a replacement fiber board seat was installed.

Originally I believe that the chair was caned but was later replaced and the frame opening enlarged eliminating the cane holes. Not sure why this was done but it may be related to better sanitary conditions using a solid covering.

Second, on one side of the chair's seat frame, the wood split and two bolts were drilled into the center of the frame to repair and prevent any furthur damage to the seat frame. Based on the discoloration of the bolts, this was done many, many years ago and happy to report that there are no signs of any other problems. Based on the wear on the foot rest used while in stroller mode, this antique has logged hundreds of hours of usage and is now ready to serve the next & future generations.
